McIntosh

C 32 Solid State Stereophonic Pre-amplifier
This was bought new in the late 70's with the MR78 tuner, Mistubishi DP-EC1 turntable and Avid Model 101 speakers as a listening set. This particular preamp is two preamps in one, allowing simultaneous recording and listening of two different program sources. Record two sources, listen to two sources, record one while listening to the other. Amazing. It also has a small powered (if there is such a thing in the McIntosh world) amplifier to drive a set of monitor speakers or headphones. This is one of the finest SS preamps loaded with features most other preamps will never have.

MR 78 Solid State Tuner
This was bought new in the late 70's with the C32 preamp, Mistubishi DP-EC1 turntable and Avid Model 101 speakers as a listening set. This is one of the best tuners McIntosh has ever built. Solid performer that can tune in broadcasts galaxies away. The stereo separation is the best I have ever heard out of a tuner.

C 28 Solid State Stereophonic Pre-amplifier
I bought this several years ago to take the C 32's place if and when it would ever need servicing. I enjoy my music and McIntosh equipment too much to go without for any period of time, so when the C32 started to get noisy switches, I snatched this up. Perfect condition other than the lights indicating source selection are intermittent. This will eventually get fixed.
MC 2125 Solid State Amplifier
125wpc Stereo / 250w Mono (Bridged)
Well, it had to happen eventually. My dad was a Mc fan, and although he never owned a Mc SS Amp (he does own an MC30) I knew I needed to have one. I wanted the 7300 for the power, but the 2125 was more in my price range. Autoformers, Power Guard, Sentry Monitor, big blue meters... what can I say? McBuild, McQuality, McWow! I have it running my Ohm F5 Series 3's.
McIntosh MC30 Tube Monoblock Amplifier
30w Mono
I finally talked him out of his MC30. Got it for a fair price. I will be keeping my eye out for another one so I have a pair, however, right now I am using it for my mono system with the Gray Research table and University speakers.
MCD 7008 Multi-disc CD Changer
When will I learn? I was an anolog person for a long time. When CDs came out, I had already amassed quite a vinyl collection, so was in no rush to buy a CD player. As vinyl faded away, I broke down and bought one. It lasted about 6 months. I bought a different brand, it lasted four months. I bought one more "reputable" brand, and it lasted barely a year. At this point, I said to heck with it and just used my CD-ROM drive. The process continued every 6-12 months until I finally broke down and bought the 7008. It was the last one I bought to this day. I learned my lesson. The casualties are listed on the Misc page.
